Privacy Policy – Trans
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Trans is a Chrome extension that translates selected text or a whole web page. This policy explains what data it handles and where it goes.
Scope of use
Trans is for private use by a group of users designated by the operator. It is not offered to the general public: it only works with an API token issued by the operator. The Google AI (Gemini) account used to process translations is also owned by this same operating group.
Data the extension handles
- Website content: only when you start a translation (translate icon, keyboard shortcut, context menu, or the "Translate this page" button), the extension sends the text you selected, or the visible text of the page being translated, to the translation API endpoint you configured. It does not read or send page content when you have not asked for a translation.
- Authentication information: the API token you enter in Settings. It is stored locally in your browser (
chrome.storage.local) and sent only in theAuthorizationheader to the API endpoint you configured. Web pages you visit cannot read it. - Settings: API URL, languages, display mode and the custom prompts you create. Stored locally in your browser and not synced to your Google account.
Where data is sent
The text to translate and the custom prompt (if any) are sent over HTTPS to the API URL you entered, by default https://api.nvnhan.wiki/v1/translate. That service forwards the text to Google Gemini, through a Google AI account owned by the operating group, to produce the translation and returns the result. Google processes the text under the Gemini API terms that apply to that account. It may cache the result of identical requests for up to one hour to respond faster.
If you enter a different API URL, data is sent to that address and is governed by the policy of whoever operates it.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside of providing the translation.
- We do not use data for advertising, behavioral analytics, or creditworthiness or lending decisions.
- We do not collect browsing history, location, personal identifiers or payment information.
- We do not execute remote code; all code is bundled in the extension package.
Your choices
You can remove your token and all settings at any time in Settings, or uninstall the extension to delete all local data. To revoke a token, do so where it was issued.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated.
